4. What type of counseling modalities do you use?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): Helps process trauma, distressing memories, and emotional blocks using bilateral stimulation (eye movements, taps, or sounds)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Identifies and changes unhelpful thoughts and behaviors

Gottman Therapy for couples: Improves communication, trust, and relationship satisfaction

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples: Strengthens emotional attachment between partners

Attachment-Based Therapy for couples: Addresses patterns rooted in early attachment experiences and helps clients identify their attachment style of either Anxious, Avoidant, or Secure.

Prepare/Enrich: Premarital and couples enrichment tool to build a strong relationship foundation

Christian Counseling: Christian counseling combines professional counseling with biblical truth to help individuals and couples experience healing and restore relationships according to God's design.

5. How does the first couples session work?
Each partner is first seen individually to share history, concerns, and goals. Then, in a joint session, the counselor helps the couple set shared goals, address challenges, and create a plan to strengthen the relationship. This ensures both partners feel heard and supported.

6. Do you offer counseling for infidelity?
Yes. We offer infidelity counseling using Gottman’s process combined with EMDR to help process betrayal trauma.
Key Goals:
Atone (Past): Take responsibility and provide transparency
Attune (Present): Explore underlying relationship issues
Attach (Future): Rebuild trust, intimacy, and shared meaning

6. How long are sessions?
I
ndividual: 50 minutes

Yes. We have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If a session is missed without 24 hours’ notice, or if there is a no-show, the session fee will be charged. This helps keep our counselors’ schedules organized and allows other clients the opportunity to be seen.

10. Is what I share confidential?
Yes. All sessions are confidential and HIPAA-compliant, with limited exceptions required by law (such as safety concerns). Please note: we do not keep secrets between couples; information shared in joint sessions supports honesty and healing.

Yes. River Park Counseling does not currently provide treatment for individuals experiencing active suicidal thinking, domestic violence situations, active substance abuse/addiction, or those seeking specialized pornography addiction recovery.  In these situations, we encourage individuals to seek care from providers and programs specifically equipped to offer the level of support these concerns require.
